The Epidemiology group runs a series of short courses to provide training in epidemiology and epidemiology-related statistics. There is an annual course held in Aberdeen, plus other courses in other locations. If you are interested in arranging an ad-hoc course, please contact Professor Gary Macfarlane on firstname.lastname@example.org in the first instance.
We currently have the following course(s) scheduled:
27th Intensive Course in Applied Epidemiology
2nd - 6th March 2020, Aberdeen, UK
Our well-established Intensive Course in Applied Epidemiology celebrates its 27th year. Over 4.5 days, this intensive course covers concepts and methods common to all chronic disease epidemiology. During the course, delegates will cover principles of study design, the collection and analysis of data in epidemiological studies, and various methodological aspects of epidemiology study, including bias, confounding, validity and reliability. It assumes no prior epidemiological training and will cover basic and more advance topics in each of these areas, taking delegates to a level covered in an epidemiological module of a Masters degree. Each session will involve a lecture, but emphasis is placed on practical exercises and group work for solving problems.
