Peter’s primary research interests have been the study of the causes, course, consequences, and treatment of chronic pain, low back pain, fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis, with an emphasis on studying data that links primary care and the general population.  Peter has been active in promoting the disciplines of general practice and academic primary care for many years and he has strongly supported the development of multidisciplinary research teams and partnerships with primary and secondary health care services within the NHS community.
