Staff Development Group Fund
The Institute allocates a small amount of funding to support staff development activities and IAHS staff and PhD students can apply to the SDG for funds if applications for external funding, either through their research grant funding body, Principal's excellence fund or other sources are unsuccessful. The criteria for applications can be found in the application form below. Conferences and courses attended should be in line with the objectives set at the Annual Review. Applications will be assessed by two SDG group members not belonging to the applicant's research group. Successful applicants will be expected to complete an online evaluation form within two months of the conference/course.
Last year (2024-25), the Staff Development Committee funded a number of applications to support staff attending conferences such as:

- Royal Statistical Society 2024 International Conference
- Evidence Synthesis of Qualitative Research in Europe (ESQUIRE)
- 58th Annual Scientific Meeting of The British Pain Society
- International Congress of Nutrition IUNS-ICN 2025
We have also supported applicants attending training courses such as:
