TechFest is Aberdeen and the North-East of Scotland's annual festival of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and is widely acknowledged as a major event in the annual calendar of the region. The University of Aberdeen contributes a range of exciting public events and activities to the TechFest programme each year.
The festival aims to promote STEM subjects to young people and to the wider community by providing an accessible, diverse and entertaining programme. TechFest is highly regarded as a key event within education, industry and the wider community.
2018 is the 25th Anniversary for TechFest and to celebrate there are a number of events for all ages and interests:
- Activity Weekend (25th and 26th August) A weekend of family fun with a range of different workshops and shows, this is a perfect way to inspire your little ones.
- Primary schools come to TechFest for the Early Years and Primary Programme from 27th to 30th August linking exciting science, technology, engineering and maths activities with the Curriculum for Excellence.
- A Celebration of Scottish Wildlife (9th September) is a brand new event this year taking place at the University of Aberdeen Zoology building. There will be a wide range of activities suitable for adults and children in the Zoology Museum and Botanical Gardens.
- The Public Programme runs from the 8th to the 22nd of September and includes a range of talks, tours, shows and interactive workshops aimed at families, young adults, students and adults.
