Pathways to Power: Rise of the Early Medieval Kingdoms of the North

Provided an unprecedented focus on how the early kingdoms of northern Europe emerged, and the influences new lifeways, relations with the land and literary cultures had on this watershed transformation of the north.

It brought together key researchers to promote the University of Aberdeen as a world-leading institution for comparative study of early medieval Northern cultures and built upon important collections at the University of Aberdeen, alongside the research specialisms of multiple disciplines within the university.

This led to wide dissemination of world-class research, with outstanding potential for scholarly, artistic and popular impact.
