Our School:

The School of Divinity, History, Philosophy and Art History is a vibrant and international community of learning with interdisciplinarity and collaboration at its heart. It combines the traditional with the cutting- edge, making the most of its 500-year teaching history yet with an eye to contemporary approaches and issues. Located in the historic heart of King’s College Campus, our modern teaching facilities enable dynamic learning experiences that foster intellectual exploration and critical enquiry in and across disciplines.

Students who study within the School of Divinity, History, Philosophy and Art History will have access to world-leading experts and the highest quality teaching. Our Subjects:

Divinity
Studying a postgraduate degree in Divinity will allow you to explore Christian faith, scriptures, doctrine, and practice in our renowned department with a long-standing, global reputation for excellence in the study of theology and the Bible. Our degrees are characterised by flexibility, allowing you to take more general or specialist routes as preferred. As a student in Divinity, you will become part of our lively, collegial, international and ecumenical community.

History
Our postgraduate degrees in history cover a range of areas from medieval Nordic studies to medieval and early modern history, modern history, and Scottish heritage. As a postgraduate student in history, you will have access to a vibrant and welcoming department that has a long-established reputation and wide-ranging expertise. Your postgraduate degree in historical studies will allow you to develop advanced skills and specialist knowledge in the areas that interest you, in an academic environment that fosters community and interdisciplinarity.

Philosophy
By studying a postgraduate degree in Philosophy and Society you will become part of a unique programme that introduces students to cutting edge research in Applied Philosophy. Furthermore, it will enable you to apply the insights you gain to real-world social problems and questions you contend with and care about. 

Art History
As a postgraduate student in Art History, you will be able to draw on the department’s wide-ranging expertise from late-antiquity to contemporary art and architecture, including expertise in Christianity and the visual arts and environmental art, with a particular focus on the North. You will become part of a small and thriving department with vibrant research seminars and an expanding postgraduate community.
