As part of our series of posts in celebration of School of Psychology staff for International Women’s Day, we want to shine a spotlight on our brilliant Lecturer and Race Equality Officer Dr Eva Rubinova.
Eva joined the School of Psychology in 2022. Research in her lab (https://portfolio.evarubinova.com/) is focused on answering applied questions related to memory and memory-based decisions. Their aims are to help define practices that can be used to effectively elicit information, and to provide guidance that enables accurate and effective interpretation of memory-based evidence in investigative settings.
Eva recently began collaborating with developers from Saxion Extended Reality lab led by Matthijs van Veen and Dr Katja Zibrek from the Inria Institute at the University of Rennes. The team are working to develop highly immersive virtual reality scenarios depicting interpersonal conflict consistent with early stages of domestic abuse. These virtual reality stimuli will be used in research focused on examining the role of emotion in memory and the investigation of effective interviewing approaches in this context.
At the School, Eva is a member of the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, where she serves as Race Equality Champion and leads work in Decolonising the Curriculum. She also chairs the Committee for Diversity and Inclusion of the Society for Applied Research in Memory and Cognition (SARMAC).
Happy International Women's Day 2024! You can visit Eva's staff page here.
