This is someone from within the University who will examine your thesis. They must be appointed for all higher degrees examined by thesis. They have authority to sign examiners’ reports and to sign off on any changes you have been required to make.
Someone who has been a candidate’s supervisor at any time may not be appointed as an internal examiner.
Someone associated with a research institute and holding a University of Aberdeen appointment may be an internal examiner.
An internal examiner must be a contracted employee at the University of Aberdeen (excluding honorary members of staff) and should be a professor, reader, lecturer or academic member of staff of an equivalent employment grade. Your supervisor cannot be your internal examiner.
If a member of staff has left the University of Aberdeen since a candidate completed their research, they may be appointed as an internal examiner and offered the same fee as an external examiner.
