Biography
In 2018, Dr Harrop began her dermatology registrar training with NHS Grampian which involved and initial first year at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee whereby Dr Harrop gained experience in hair clinics, photobiology and laser medicine. The rest of her registrar training has been in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with greater experience in skin cancer clinics and general dermatology and will become a Consultant dermatologist in September 2024.
Dr Harrop started at NHS Grampian as a foundation year doctor and was an academic core medical trainee. She has worked in most departments in the hospital.
Dr Harrop has a wide range of publications in dermatology and has presented both nationally and internationally at a number of dermatology conferences and has been awarded the La Roche Posay photo-dermatology group fellowship award.
Dr Harrop has been actively involved in medical and dental education both with The University of Dundee, University of Aberdeen and University of Medicine, Mandalay and holds a PGCert in Medical Education and is a member of the Academy of Medical Educators and an Honorary University of Aberdeen staff member. She is currently engaged with research projects within the University of Aberdeen, and holds a PGCert in Research Methods for Health and has acted as mentor in the past and OSCE examiner. Dr Harrop is also a professional exam item writer, writing dermatology exam questions with Pearson Vue for medical entrance exams.
