We are excited to invite you to our next seminar in the IAHS seminar series. This month’s seminar is in collaboration with the Biostatistics & Health Data Science group.

Ainura Moldokmatova is currently pursuing a DPhil at the University of Oxford. Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked on HIV and tuberculosis programmes across the Central Asian region, where she coordinated research and monitoring activities. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Research from the University of Edinburgh. Her research interests include mathematical modelling, behavioural studies, and health systems and policy research.

This presentation explores how policy analysis, supported by mathematical modelling, can improve understanding of the role of policy decisions and guide strategic planning for the HIV response among people who inject drugs (PWID) in Kyrgyzstan. It details findings from a review of national policies and programmes, along with retrospective and prospective modelling of the potential impact of key interventions—including needle and syringe programmes, opioid substitution therapy, pre-exposure prophylaxis, and behavioural interventions—on the course of the HIV epidemic.
