Biography
Miriam Brazzelli obtained a Phisiotherapy degree from San Carlo Borromeo Physiotherapy School in 1988 and an honours degree in Psychology (Cognitive Psychology) from the University of Turin (Italy) in 1997. Following early career appointments within the health service in the fields of physiotherapy and neuropsychology she joined the Unit in Jan 1999. She was subsequently awarded a Research Fellowship by the Scottish Executive Health Department, Chief Scientist Office in 2005 to study the methodology of systematic reviews of diagnostic test accuracy studies. She obtained a PhD (Public Health Sciences) from the University of Edinburgh in 2011. She re-joined the Unit in 2012 (Feb) as lead of the Evidence Synthesis Team withint the Health Care Assessment Programme. The focus of her research is on complex evidence syntheses and health technology assessments, which aim to assess the clinical- and cost-effectiveness of new and established healthcare interventions.
