In the Third Year of your Geography degree, you will receive core skills training in two core courses:

  • Approaches to Geography
  • Research Design in Geography

You also have numerous options to receive training in the geographical skills that will best suit your anticipated Fourth Year courses and employment beyond university. Options on offer include:

  • Remote Sensing and GIS
  • Land and Marine Conservation
  • Data Handling
  • Techniques in Physical Geography
  • Concepts in Human Geography

In June of your Third Year you also have the opportunity to attend a Physical Geography Field Course (recently held in the Alps) or a Human Geography Field Course (in Boston, USA).

Both Third-Year Core Courses, "Approaches to Geography" and "Research Design in Geography," and the two Options "Data Analysis" and "Remote Sensing and G.I.S." offer you the choice of specialist assignments in Physical Geography or Human Geography. Therefore, should you wish, you can specialise entirely in Physical or Human Geography during your Third Year.
