Undergraduate BSc and MA degrees in Geography
We have recently introduced a new Geography curriculum. This curriculum is founded on the long tradition of Geography at Aberdeen (the Department was established in 1919) but also reflects the needs of school-leavers, undergraduates and employers today.
Geography is key to understanding and resolving many of the most pressing problems faced by society, and the new curriculum reflects the changing nature of these problems and current approaches to addressing them.
Our curriculum is also sharply focused on employability, with core courses on the degree program aimed at producing graduates who can think critically and in an interdisciplinary way, communicate well, are numerate, and are well schooled in key geographic skills and techniques.
As a student at Aberdeen you will be taught by internationally renowned Geographers.
The degree program reflects modern day Geography, with option courses paralleling the department’s research strengths in both human and physical Geography.
During your time at Aberdeen, option courses in years 3 and 4 will allow you to:
- engage with cutting-edge geographical research
- covering topics as diverse as the environmental impact of past and future climate change and the role of digital technology in modern society
This programme has been accredited by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).
