Re-imagining Education: Collaboration and Compassion

The conference themes have been developed to help bring together a cohesive programme; the examples provided under each theme is not limiting and it is anticipated that we receive a wide range of submission beyond these suggestions.

Inclusive

This theme invites research around how our education welcomes and supports students from all backgrounds, and supports them to achieve their potential.  Examples might include:

  • Decolonising the curriculum
  • Co-designing the learning experience
  • Intersectionality embedded within learning developments
  • Intercultural learning communities
  • Resilient learning communities
Interdisciplinary

This theme invites research around the role, approaches and reality of interdisciplinary education to enhance the learning experience.  Examples might include:

  • Interdisciplinary curriculum design 
  • Disciplinary identity within interdisciplinary learning
  • Programme design to address global issues
  • Students as leaders in interdisciplinary learning
  • Breaking disciplinary silos in teaching to encourage transdisciplinary thinking
International

This theme invites research framed around global perspectives that detail internationalised approaches to education which transcend geographical borders, embrace cultural diversity and offer diverse learning experiences.  Examples might include:

  • Collaborative Online International Learning
  • International learning experience
  • Innovative approaches to enhancing student mobility
  • Respecting diversity and developing versatility in teaching and learning
  • Global Citizenship as part of the learning experience
Sustainable

This theme invites research on ways in which education enables students to understand and nurture our environment, and how educators develop and deliver sustainable approaches to the delivery of education.  Examples might include:

  • Environmental sustainability within curricula: supporting students to be leaders in the environment
  • Educational sustainability: supporting the development of sustainable education through pedagogical research
  • Sustainable career tracks
  • Students as leaders in learning for sustainability
