Discover your career in science with a day of industry talks and networking

Building on the successful annual event held in London, the Day of Science and Careers comes to Scotland for the first time this year. The meeting is designed for Early Career People with a particular focus on providing information about the wide range of careers covered in the chemical, chemical-using and other science based industries. You may be surprised to learnthat over 70% of people working in these industries work in SMEs (small and medium enterprises), so there are lots of opportunities beyond the large organisations you may have heard of so far. At the end of the meeting there will be a chance to chat to all our speakers in an informal setting over a glass of wine, which will also be an excellent opportunity to network with fellow delegates. Lunch will also be provided.

Highlighted talks and speakers:

  • Entrepreneurship and careers in BioScience SMEs - Prof Andy Porter, Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Aberdeen
  • Starting Out in a Chemical SME - Jordan Conway, SIRAKOSS, Aberdeen
  • Starting Out in the Oil Industry - Dr Jamie Kerr, Clariant and past SCI Scholar
  • Starting Out in Academia - Dr Carol Munro, Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Aberdeen
  • A Career in Big Pharma - Beatrice Tilt, Regulatory Affairs Associate, GlaxoSmithKline
