How does soil relate to natural capital? What is food security? Is forestry saving the environment? These are some of the most pertinent questions that humankind and the planet will face in the coming decades and which soil scientists are currently looking at.
Soil is at the heart of our lives, our environment and our being. And yet we take it for granted. Soil is moulded by the environmental systems that surround it, yet it also creates those very systems – this is what makes soil science such a fascinating area for study.
