Talking with the Media

Talking with the Media

This half day workshop is for researchers keen to reach a wider audience through opportunities primarily with print media.  Delivered in partnership with the communications team, the session deals with how the press works, what factors make for an attractive written article and tips on how to respond and perform in interview situations.  Key content includes:-

  • Examples of the good, bad and ugly around engaging with a general readership and how to maximise the attractiveness of your 'story'
  • Examining the basics of a press release and the role of the 5 W's (the Who, What, Why, Where and When) plus the often forgotten 'So What'
  • Practical exercise in being interviewed on camera helping focus on conveying main points in a limited time
