Ecology, Epidemiology and Economics: bringing human behaviour into ecological and epidemiological models

-------------------

Conventional ecological and epidemiological models view human behavioural responses as external to the natural system. Conversely, social and economic approaches focus on these but often neglect the spatial, heterogeneous, stochastic, multi-host and multi-species nature of ecological interactions and disease transmission. We study two complementary problems to see how we can integrate ecological and epidemiological approach on one hand and economics on the other hand.

The first project addresses the conservation land management and aims at a design of the system of agglomeration incentives leading to spatial connectivity of patches of land. The second example addresses the changes in people's behaviour in the face of an epidemic. Spatial aspects of people interactions are key to both projects and we also attempt to address some of these issues by experimentation.
