Undergraduate

The University of Aberdeen welcomes applications from students from Venezuela presenting a range of qualifications including

  • GCE A Levels
  • US High School Diploma (with other standardised tests including the SAT, ACT or APs)
  • International Baccalaureate

Students presenting the Venezuelan high school diploma (Bachillerato) are normally required to complete a recognised Foundation year programme for admission to undergraduate study.

Engineering: Students interested in Engineering have the option to complete an international foundation year, such as the one offered by Kaplan International Colleges in Nottingham, UK. This entails completing your first year at Kaplan, before transferring into the second year of either the BEng in Mechanical Engineering with Oil & Gas Studies, BEng in Petroleum Engineering, or BEng in Chemical Engineering.  The benefit is that you have a year of additional support to help you transition to the UK education system, while still graduating with a fully accredited degree from the University of Aberdeen within the normal time period.

Please refer to the Kaplan website for further information.

Postgraduate: Typically we will consider a Licenciatura (four years) as equivalent to a UK Bachelors with a grade of 81% (Sobresaliente) as equivalent to a 2:1 though this does vary depending on the grading system used by the institution. For other grading systems, a score of 14 from a well ranked university is considered comparable to a UK 2.1, while a score of 11 is considered comparable to a UK 2.2.
