We’ve teamed up with Mackie's of Scotland to bring one lucky member of staff and one student the chance to win a year’s worth of ice cream.
And while it’s hard to imagine anything better than that, thanks to those brilliant people at Mackie’s, even if you miss out on the big prize, you are still a winner.
Every member of staff or student who visits Mackie’s 19.2 ice cream parlour in Aberdeen city centre between 27 April and 11 May and shows their staff/student ID badge will get a whopping 30% discount on the full range of over 20 flavours of ice cream - whether it comes in cones, tubs, sundaes, milkshakes, crepes or waffles.
Mackie’s offers a continually varying array of hand-made flavours, many unique to the parlour - like their tribute to the north-east ‘Buttery and Jam’ – alongside classic Mackie’s favourites like Traditional or Honeycomb. There are a huge number of delicious combinations of ice cream and toppings to choose from so get yourself down there and start trying them out!
HOW TO PLAY
No puzzles or brain teasers involved in this one. All you have to do is tell us what your favourite flavour of ice cream is – either real or imaginary, if no-one’s come up with it yet!
Everyone who submits an entry will go into the draw. Unlike some of our other competitions however, this time you can only enter once. See Terms & Conditions below for full details.

You will receive news direct from Mackie's farm, be the first to know about new flavours or offers and have the chance to enter exclusive Friends of Mackie’s competitions. And as if that's not sweet enough, each month they also send a Mackie's goodie bag (including a tote bag, three ice cream vouchers and five chocolate bars) to five of their club members!

TERMS & CONDITIONS
- Entrants must be on the current University of Aberdeen Student Update distribution list and have a valid University-issued student photo ID card.
- Participation for the competition prize is limited to one entry per person.
- Entrants must use their University of Aberdeen email address to participate.
- The competition opens on Thursday, 27 April 2023 and will close at 5pm on Wednesday, 10 May 2023.
- All entries will be entered into a prize draw, with the winner drawn at random on Thursday, 11 May 2023.
- The winner will be contacted by the University direct and asked to supply a postal address.
- The 30% student discount offer at Mackie’s 19.2 is available during the parlour at Marischal Square’s opening hours from Thursday, 27 April until Thursday, 11 May, and applies to all food items other than ice cream cakes.
- The Year’s Supply of Mackie’s ice cream is awarded in the form of a booklet of 26 ice cream vouchers, redeemable at all major UK retailers. The prize is as stated and cannot be transferred or replaced.
- The UoA reserves the right to amend or waive any of these terms and conditions or cancel the competition at any time.
