Biography
I am a historian of twentieth-century Ireland and Russia, specialising in transnational approaches, the history of revolutions and international press networks. I completed my PhD at the University of Edinburgh in 2022 and recently held the Roy Foster Irish Government Research Fellowship in the History and Culture of Ireland at Hertford College, Oxford (2022-23).
I teach widely across modern history, historical skills and methods. I am currently course co-ordinator for Global Empire in the Long Nineteenth Century, as well as a tutor on American Civilizations and History in Practice and a lecturer on Thinking History.

Research Overview
My research interests relate primarily to the history of ideas, revolutions and the press. My PhD explored relations between revolutionary Russia and Ireland from 1905 to 1923, focusing on the translation of news and ideas across borders. Using a wide range of Russian-language and Irish sources, it looked in both directions at Irish responses to revolutionary Russia and at representations of Irish history and politics in late imperial and early Soviet Russia. This research will form the basis of my first monograph, provisionally titled Revolutionary Connections: Russia and Ireland, 1905-23. My postdoctoral research explores the role of Irish women in global anti-communist networks between 1919 and 1939, including in the Irish diaspora in Britain, the US and Australia.
