Pete and Joe Stollery have collaborated on a new composition with viola player Katherine Wren as part of the A Wing and A Prayer project, with the first performance taking place at The Barn on March 14th 2024 at 7.30pm.

Former member of Music staff Prof Pete Stollery and his PhD student son Joe Stollery have been working closely with viola player Katherine Wren on the second part of her On A Wing and A Prayer project.

The three musicians are inspired by natural environments and histories and with how sound relates to place. As climate change becomes more noticeable, they have grown increasingly concerned with the changes they’ve observed in Deeside and the Cairngorms National Park.

Following a residency in Braemar in January they became fascinated with the way nature has regenerated in the Glen Quoich area and On A Wing and A Prayer is a musical and emotional response to the sights, sounds and stories they experienced there.

The performance will feature music written by Joe for viola and played by Katherine Wren along with improvisations by her, partnered with an 8 channel immersive sound track by Pete.
