Gold Miners, Spanish Flu, Jute and Eggs: A Story of the Aberdeen Diaspora

An egg so rare in fact that this is thought to be the only preserved egg of Jerdon's Courser, Rhinoptilus bitorquatu, anywhere in the world. Jerdon’s Courser is an endangered plover-like species which inhabits a tiny area of southern India. Dr Knox, tells the story of how this egg landed up in a drawer in Aberdeen, and considers how knowing more about it might help to save this species from extinction.
