Just Systems was highlighted at the Scottish Partnership in Energy and Engineering Research & Innovation (SPEERI) Annual Conference 2025, in the ‘Collaboration in Action’ session (https://www.speeri.ac.uk/events/annualconference2025), as an example of how large, interdisciplinary teams can deliver research that addresses complex, real-world challenges.
During the session, Professor Maheri discussed how Just-Systems draws on expertise from engineering, social sciences, law, business, architecture, and environmental disciplines to co-develop solutions to energy transition challenges. He reflected on how the project’s mission - designing a holistic systems approach, placing people at the centre of the transition, and building capacity through shared learning and collaboration with communities and stakeholders- keeps the team grounded in interdisciplinarity and helps uncover blind spots, strengthen the legitimacy of decision-making, and support fair and effective pathways to net zero
