NARSS Talk: Viking weddings for the living and the dead

This talk will explore three textual sources from widely differing times and places, bringing them together in previously unattempted combinations to illuminate aspects of ritual life in the Viking Age. In focus will be the treatment of the dead, sexual habits and social customs. Although the seminar will largely rely on written evidence, the conclusions have potentially considerable archaeological implications.
