Evening Lecture in association with the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland

This talk will outline recent results of the University of Aberdeen’s Northern Picts project which involves undertaking surveys and excavations on Pictish sites from Aberdeenshire to Easter Ross. In this presentation Gordon Noble will focus on the work at three fortified sites: Dunnicaer and Rhynie, both Aberdeenshire and Burghead, Moray and will discuss what the results suggest for the emergence of developed hierarchies within the first millennium AD in Northeast Scotland.
