Manson, Oldmeldrum and Mosquitoes

This lecture is part of the University’s of Aberdeen’s Manson celebrations and also in association with the Aberdeen Medico-Chirurgical Society.

Patrick Manson, widely recognised as the ‘Father of Tropical Medicine’, was born in Oldmeldrum and started studying at the University of Aberdeen 150 years ago. He became a key figure in the history of parasitology through major discoveries in tropical diseases. Tony Hedley, Professor of Community Medicine at the University of Hong Kong will provide insight into the life and work of Patrick Manson, from both an Aberdeen and Hong Kong perspective.

The lecture, jointed hosted by the Aberdeen Medico-Chirurgical Society and the University of Aberdeen, will be held at 7 pm on Monday 13th September in the Robertson Trust Healthcare Lecture Theatre in the Suttie Centre for Teaching and Learning, Foresterhill.    (The Suttie Centre café will be open until 7pm).  The Lecture will be introduced by Professor Ian Diamond, the new Principal of the University and chaired by Dr Jamie Grieve, President of the Aberdeen Medico-Chirurgical Society
