King's College Chapel Consecration 500th Anniversary

King's College Chapel Consecration 500th Anniversary

This is a past event

This term sees the 500th anniversary of the consecration of the University of Aberdeen's King's College Chapel. This special historic event is being celebrated with a programme of events featuring services, music recitals and a lecture series.

On Sunday 4 October we are hosting a full day of activities including a talk about King's College Chapel archives, a virtual tour and a walking tour of Old Aberdeen.

The consecration anniversary day starts with a celebration service, with the Very Reverend Professor Iain R Torrance preaching and the premiere of a specially commissioned piece of music written by Dr Paul Mealor and performed by the Chapel Choir. In the evening there will be a consecration anniversary Roman Catholic Mass at 6.30pm where Con-celebrants will include:-

His Eminence Keith Patrick Cardinal O'Brien

His Excellency Archbishop Faustino Sainz Munoz, Apostolic Nuncio

Right Reverend Peter A Moran, Bishop of Aberdeen

Father Allan White O.P to preach

We would be extremely grateful if you could confirm your attendance. We would like to emphasise that booking for any of these events is not compulsory, but will help us to ensure that you are comfortably seated and can enjoy the celebrations.

We hope you will be able to take time out to join us for some of the unique and exciting services and events during the autumn term and we look forward to welcoming you.

(If you have been asked to process at the Catholic Mass, please contact Debra Buchan on 01224 272689.)
