As part of his visit to Aberdeen to attend the Offshore Europe Conference, Mark Stickells, CEO of WA:ERA will deliver a talk on the subject of Australia's Energy Future.

Including an overview of the present direction of the oil & gas and renewables industries in Australia, Mr Stickells will also offer an insight into the Australian government’s proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme.

Mr Stickells will also discuss the role of research alliances, and how WA:ERA, which was built on on core expertise in the oil and gas sector, is now positioning to respond to this new Future - carbon capture and storage, renewables, and national gas strategy, working with industry and government – and how WA:ERA is now about to move from a 'capacity building' phase to a more 'path to impact' model.

The talk will conclude with a discussion on what makes a good research collaboration model, including levels of industry engagement, and lessons that can be shared between energy research centres such as those in Perth, Aberdeen and Stavanger.

There will be time allowed for a short Q&A session and networking following the talk.  Light refreshments will be provided.
