Prof Phillip Cooke CD Launch

We welcome pianist Duncan Honeybourne back to the university for what promises to be an exciting evening of diverse pieces for the piano. Alongside works by Brahms and Mackenzie, Honeybourne will perform two new works by Professor of Composition at the university, Phillip Cooke, who has written many new pieces for the pianist in recent years. The two new pieces, Theme and Transfigurations and Impromptus are part of a forthcoming release on the Prima Facie record label, ‘Transfiguration: The Piano Music of Phillip Cooke’, and this concert at the University of Aberdeen will be the launch of this new recording. CDs of the recording will be available to purchase at the concert. The concert also features a performance of Tempus Plangendi by Prof John Casken, the Department of Music’s Visiting Fellow in Composition.
