What is your why? Finding your purpose, how you can make a difference to the people around you and the organisation you work for
In May 2021 the Business School is launching ‘In Conversation with….’, a series of online discussions with business leaders. These bitesize events are aimed at providing direction, assistance and hope during these uncertain times. The events will take place from 9am-9.30am (BST) on the first Wednesday of every month.
The inaugural event is with Colette Backwell, CEO of CLAN Cancer Support and will be hosted by Professor Martin Meyer, Dean and Head of Business School. Colette and Martin will discuss 'What is your why?'- finding your purpose, how you can make a difference to the people around you and the organisation you work for.
Colette Backwell is the CEO of CLAN Cancer Support, a charity that has been serving anyone affected by a diagnosis of cancer throughout the North East of Scotland and the Northern Isles for over 30 years. CLAN's free services are offered to all ages - children, young people and adults - and to those with cancer as well as their carers and families. Before joining CLAN, Colette was the Director in Scotland of the Food and Drink Federation, the trade association which represents UK food and drink manufacturers, from global brands to SMEs. She previously held a number of senior advisory, policy development and change management roles in the UK and Scottish Government administrations and local government. In 2011, Colette started her own consultancy business, Backwell Associates. She is currently the President of the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce; a member of the Board of the NHS North Cancer Alliance; a member of NHS Grampian Cancer Strategy Group; Chair of the Grampian Cancer Third Sector Partnership Group; a member of the Institute of Directors Scotland and NE Committees; and is a Governor of the University of Aberdeen.
We look forward to welcoming you to join our conversations!
Please note, this is a virtual event and will start promptly at 9am.
You will have the opportunity to join the conversation by asking questions to Colette via the chat box.
