Hear from Marcel Jaspars and Abbe Brown as they share how the power of science and law can be used in ocean conservation.

When we look at photos of Earth we see a blanket of blue, our oceans. Oceans beyond national jurisdiction make up 40% of the earth’s surface, yet biodiversity living within these areas is not protected.

Both Marcel and Abbe’s work has been used to advise those involved in current UN negotiations. The UN is developing a new treaty to conserve marine biodiversity, in these areas, and to allow some of these resources to be used in the development of new products such as medicines to stop resistant bacterial infections.
