Join UoA Collections and Jane Pirie, Curator (Rare Books) for a chat about 'Inc 5', Avicenna's Canon of Medicine. This wonderful but damaged book was printed in Strasbourg between 1473 and 1477. Jane will be sharing its fascinating story.

The University's copy of Inc 5 is incomplete, and its description as ‘imperfect’ has led to it being overlooked. Although many leaves are missing and mutilated, it is an intriguing book, with tantalising evidence of a rich past. The book was once beautifully and extensively decorated, making it one of only a tiny handful of incunabula decorated in England to survive.

Who completed this decoration, who owned the book and how it came to be in Aberdeen are all part of the on-going research into this fascinating book.

Come along to find out more as we chat with Jane about Inc 5.
