Populism is an urgent issue in politics today. 17th century philosopher Baruch Spinoza can help us understand how our emotional states, or “affects”, are linked to different configurations and uses of power. In this talk, Kerstin Andermann will introduce these concepts and consider how populists use disparagement to achieve their objectives.
