Join us for a poetry recital in Mandarin and English
Yang Lian 杨炼 and his long-term collaborator and famous translator Brian Holton will give a short introduction before a poetry recital in Mandarin and English, followed by refreshments and informal discussion. Hailed as a "one of the great world poets of our era", Yang Lian has published thirteen collections of poems, two collections of prose and one selection of essays in Chinese. His work has also been translated into more than twenty languages, and has been described as "like MacDiarmid meets Rilke with Samurai sword drawn!". Yang Lian has just recently been awarded the Janus Pannonius International Prize for Poetry.
