Food and Social Media: Just #foodporn or a force for good?

Food and Social Media: Just #foodporn or a force for good?

This is a past event

Whether it is the endless Instagram pictures of meals, celebrity food bloggers touting the latest fad diet, or Twitter users commenting on their latest take-away experience, it seems that food is all over social media. But is there more to this deluge of online material than people just impressing their followers?

Researchers at the University of Aberdeen are working with Food Standards Scotland to investigate if social media data can help understand and inform aspects of food policy, and aid routine monitoring in areas such as food safety and fraud. Come along to hear speakers talk about their work and join a discussion about #fooddata.

This event is part of British Science Week 2018. View the full programme for families and schools here and on Facebook.
