We all need to consume food to give us energy. Do you ever wonder where it goes in the body and how we store and use it?

Our bodies have highly specialised systems to send different nutrients from the diet to different organs for storage. These are then released later to meet our energy needs. Obesity is a major current health problem and happens when we overload these storage systems. This can prevent them working as they should and may result in the development of obesity related health problems such as diabetes, heart disease and certain cancers.

Prof. Mirela Delibegovic and Dr Justin Rochford will discuss how our bodies store nutrients from the food we eat, how we use the energy they provide and why this is important for keeping us healthy. They will also discuss how different diets affect this system and whether any of them might shift that last bit of Christmas pudding.

These talks are FREE and suitable for 16+ years. No booking required, but a donation on the door is welcome.
