Enhancing literacy learning for pupils through teacher engagement in a small scale classroom based professional enquiry project

A joint presentation by two primary teachers engaging in an early career Masters programme and one of their course tutors. The presentation will outline opportunities presented through the Masters programme for enhancing teacher learning and practice in the area of literacy learning and how participating teachers have made a difference to the literacy learning experiences they provide for the primary children in their classrooms by engaging in a professional enquiry project – one focusing on ‘Developing inclusive reading practices through Graphic Novels’ and the other on ‘How pupils can  develop their critical literacy skills through moving image education’. Both teachers will discuss the impact of their project on children’s learning and on their own professional practice.
