Entry from School

Access Aberdeen is our widening access schools programme which informs, supports, and encourages young people to make appropriate post-school study choices. The programme  works with young people who meet one of our widening access criteria regardless of the school they attend:

  • Live in an SIMD20 Postcode area
  • Care Experienced
  • Eligible for Free School Meals
  • Estranged From Parents
  • Have Caring Responsibilities
  • In receipt of Educational Maintenance Allowance
  • Experienced a physical and/or mental health issue that has impacted on secondary education
  • Gypsy, Roma or Travelling Community
  • Refugee/Asylum Seeker Status
  • Home address is in an area considered to remote and rural (5-8 on the Scottish Government 8-fold Urban Rural Classification)
  • Parent Or Carer In Armed Forces
  • Served In Armed Forces
  • Have been through the Children’s Panel process
  • Parents(s) have had a custodial sentence

We can offer the following support:

  • Guidance on specific careers and subject choice
  • University and subject specific events (online and on campus)
  • Support with UCAS applications and personal statements.
  • Specific guidance on entrance requirements
  • Consideration under the University's Contextualised Admissions Policy
