The University of Aberdeen is committed to helping you succeed as a student and rewarding you for your achievements so far. From September 2020 onward, we have three 1st Year Merit Scholarships available to you, as well as Academic Performance Awards (available after 1st Year) for ongoing academic excellence.

Saltire Scholarship

 

 

Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships is a programme of scholarships offered by the Scottish Government in collaboration with Scottish universities. Our chosen scholars are people who aspire to become influential leaders in their future careers. They have wide ranging interests outside their studies and a desire to broaden their personal and academic experience in Scotland.

Scholarships are available to citizens of the following countries: Canada, China (including Hong Kong), India, Pakistan or USA. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a citizen of Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Pakistan and USA. 
  • Have obtained an offer of a place to study full-time at the University of Aberdeen. On-line and distance learning courses are not eligible for funding
  • Preferably have a place on a one-year postgraduate taught masters
  • Have not previously completed undergraduate studies at a Scottish University

Alumni Discount (returning Visiting Students)

Alumni of the University of Aberdeen, including former Study Abroad and Exchange students, who return to pursue a Postgraduate programme, are eligible for the Aberdeen Alumni Discount:

  • 20% discount on one year of Postgraduate study. Applies to to all taught Masters programmes or first year of PhD Study

Chevening Scholarships

Each year, the University of Aberdeen enrols a number of international graduate students awarded a prestigious Chevening Scholarship. Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The programme makes awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study postgraduate courses at UK universities.

Canadian student loans are transferable towards the cost of study at the University of Aberdeen. Please email usaloans@abdn.ac.uk for further information.

Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund (CCSF)

The Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund (CCSF) provides awards ranging from £1,000 to £5,000 to Canadians studying in the UK. 

Applications are invited from Canadian students currently enrolled in a multi-year (2 years or more) postgraduate programme at a UK university. Please refer to http://www.canadianscholarshipfund.co.uk/ for further information.

Robertson Scholarship for Engineering

The Robertson Scholarship for Engineering was established by the bequest of the late David Robertson who graduated in Engineering from the University of Aberdeen in 1932. He wished to benefit future generations of Engineering students. There is one scholarship available. This is part of the University of Aberdeen Engineering Scholarships Programme.

Voice Talent Online is offering one USD 1000 scholarship to help with costs related to studying. Any student enrolled in a university - anywhere in the world - can apply.

Aberdeen Alumni Discount

20% discount is available for University of Aberdeen graduates on the full cost of a taught postgraduate programme and one year of a full time research programme (two years for part time). Applies to a number of taught postgraduate programmes or first year of a full time research programme.


CB Davidson Fund

The CB Davidson fund provides limited financial support for Postgraduate students within the School of Law.

James Carnegie Scholarship

There is one James Carnegie Scholarship available. The scholarship will provide £2,000 per annum towards the students' maintenance costs for the duration of the postgraduate degree course, whether that is a one year Masters, PhD (3 years) or Master by Research leading to a PhD (4 years).

T.F. Torrance Awards

Thanks to a generous donation from the Very Reverend Professor Iain Torrance, the University of Aberdeen is pleased to offer the T.F. Torrance Scholarships. The scholarships support promising doctoral students studying on a full-time, residential basis at the University of Aberdeen in the fields of Systematic and Historical Theology, Pastoral Theology, Theological Ethics and Biblical Studies.

Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds Foundation for Basic Research in Medicine offers studentships to outstanding young scientists who wish to pursue an ambitious PhD project of approximately three years in basic biomedical research in an internationally leading laboratory.
