Iratxe Arribillaga Trebolazabala, a student on the M.Litt programme in Museum Studies, will be spending the summer in New York, having been awarded a prestigious Basque Internship, part of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum Internship Program. Only four candidates are selected each year to participate in this scheme, which offers a wide variety of opportunities for museum professionals at the early stage of their career, giving them practical experience in a major museum. Iratxe will be based in the education department, where she will be working with the team who develop public programmes for adult learning. She will be involved in a range of activities, such as organising artist talks, private tours, literature readings, film screenings and workshops. She will also participate in The Museum Culture Seminar Program organised by the Guggenheim, which includes presentations by museum professionals, events and visits to museums within New York. Iratxe is looking forward to incorporating what she learns in New York into her Museum Studies project, the final stage of her degree.
