I had the amazing opportunity to attend the European Society for Medical Oncology: Targeted Anticancer Therapies (ESMO TAT) Congress in Paris where I had a front row seat to see the latest developments in cancer research and listen to talks from experts from all over the world.
I was delighted that my abstract, “Real-world clinical outcomes of Lenvatinib plus Pembrolizumab in advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer: A single-centre cohort study,” was selected for an e-poster at the congress. This study was a project I was very fortunate to carry out at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. My abstract will also be published in ESMO Open as part of the ESMO TAT 2026 Abstract Book, making our work accessible to the wider oncology community. Presenting my research at such a major conference was a hugely rewarding experience that helped me gain confidence in presenting and conducting research.
The congress was packed with insightful sessions and inspiring presentations. I particularly enjoyed learning about digital innovation and artificial intelligence in oncology, as well as antibody–drug conjugates — treatments that deliver chemotherapy directly to cancer cells. Presentations from AstraZeneca were especially engaging, highlighting ongoing developments and breakthroughs in the field. This experience has encouraged me to explore oncology research further and consider it as a career in the future.
Beyond the scientific learning, the conference allowed me to meet incredible people and get a glimpse into the constantly evolving field of oncology. I gained practical skills, built confidence in research, and was inspired to continue developing my knowledge. I’ve also shared key insights from the congress online, helping colleagues and the wider medical community to stay informed about exciting innovations in cancer research.
During my time in Paris, I was also able to see some of the city’s iconic sights, including the Louvre and Notre Dame, and immerse myself in French culture, which made the trip even more memorable.
Attending ESMO TAT has been a truly inspiring experience, giving me new skills, confidence, and motivation that I hope to apply in my future career as a doctor.
