INTRODUCING NEW SKILLS TO PROMOTE INSPIRATIONAL RESEARCH (INSPIRE) ABERDEEN
Funded by the Academy of Medical Sciences, the purpose of this week long summer school is to provide a rare opportunity for medical and dental students who wish to explore a clinical academic career to have a taster of wet laboratory research and get exposed to basic laboratory skills.
Students will spend a week in Aberdeen (also known as the Granite City) and will gain practical experience in various laboratory techniques that have clinical translation and can be used in diagnostic, and therapeutic medicinal developments. This will provide an ideal preparation for undertaking an intercalated biomedical sciences degree or a future PhD.
The scheme will be run as a residential course open to Year 1 or 2 students from medical and dental schools across UK.
All participants will be issued with a certificate at the end of the summer school.
Up to 20 places are available and the selection will be through national competition.

Following a selection process that will include an interview for the shortlisted candidates, successful applicants will receive a scholarship stipend of £75 to cover travel expenses. Accommodation and meals will be organised and covered by the School.
