'The Sunni/Shia and Republican/Monarchist Struggle over the Future of the Arab-speaking World'
Friday, 25 May, 2.30 pm
Venue: Meston, MT3, King's College, University of Aberdeen. Open to the public.
One year after her talk at Aberdeen during the height of the Arab Spring, Anne Allmeling will return to Aberdeen to share her thoughts about the question of whether the Arab Spring will spread. She will focus particularly on the monarchies of the region, none of which have been swept aside by the Arab Spring, as well as about the Sunni/Shia struggle over the future of the Arab-speaking world.
The recipient of the 2009 Axel-Springer-Preis for her coverage of a terrorist attack on Lebanon in 2007, Ms Allmeling spent most of the ‘Arab Spring’ in the Middle East.
