Salma Ishak

I am currently a Masters Student in Medieval and Early Modern History. Prior to Studying at Aberdeen University I did my undergraduate degree at the University of Stirling graduating with a joint BA (Hons) in History and Politics. I chose Aberdeen University because of its diverse History department which allows me to focus on my specific area as well as encourages me to broaden the scope and look at other historical topics and areas. Volunteering as a Student Rep allows me to become more involved in the schools administration and allows me to help my fellow classmates.

Mako Sawin

I am a residential student currently doing a MLitt in Islamic Studies. I was always very keen into theology during my school years; I was always thinking about religion and reading a lot of books. However, I recognized that I still have more to learn about religion and I want to delve in more deeply into that field in the future. Aberdeen University offered me a good opportunity to get to know various aspects of religions and make my dream come true.

Prior to studying in Aberdeen, I earned a Master’s degree in Computer science at Metropolitan University in Manchester and I worked in different fields and gained a lot experience in administration, managing and IT. Besides my working, I was reading and writing articles about ancient religions and history of the Kurdish people, then it comes to ideas to write my own book. I hope that I can develop all of the attributes I already have by studying the MLitt Islamic Studies in Aberdeen University, and that I can learn, write and discover.

It will be my great pleasure and honour to represent your views, suggestions and any issues arising at the School Postgraduate Taught Committee. Please, email me if you have any questions.
