Dr Joan MacCormack
Joan MacCormack (Pittock-Wesson) was a truly accomplished scholar and dedicated teacher with great vision for combining different subject areas. Teaching English, she successfully combined literature with other disciplines, such as history, philosophy, anthropology and the history of art. Joan’s interest in interdisciplinary studies provided a more rounded understanding of the way in which modern society developed. During her time at Aberdeen she worked together with a number of committed colleagues, including the late Peter Gabriel McCaffery, to establish a programme in cultural history.
