18th International conference on Disease of Fish and Shellfish(EAFP) was held in Belfast last week. Belfast is one of the most visited cities in hte United Kingdom and Titanic Belfast - where the delegates had a gala dinner - has recently been named as Europe's leading visitor attraction at the prestigious World Travel Awards. Also there were many different nationalities with over 500 delegates from 43 countries contributing to the programme and attending this meeting, making it a truly international conference.
Around 213 oral talks and 224 posters were presented, which were grouped into the focus sesstions such as Vaccines, Nutrition & Health, Viral/bacteroal/parasital pathogen and Fish/shellfish immunology. There were also an Industry Forum for ParaFish control and a workshop for TargetFish which our PhD students Marc Faber/Konstantinos Apostolakis and Yeh-Fang Hu, respectively, are funded by.
12 people including 10 PhD studends from the SFIRC attended the conference and gave oral/poster presentation.
