Public Engagement Officer

Biography

As Public Engagement Officer, it is my role to design, deliver, manage and support our various Public Engagement projects.

My background is in music/arts project development, management and education. Over the years, I have secured funding for and managed a number of successful projects in the North East of Scotland such as festivals, youth music projects, strategic sector bodies, prison arts programmes and artist development programmes. More recently I worked as an assessor on arts funding panels at Creative Scotland, Aberdeen City Council and Dundee City Council.

As an educator, I have taught privately, in community and professional settings, in prisons and schools as well as on national artist development programmes such as the Scottish Music Centre's Music Plus programme.

Also a performer, I perform, tour and record with award-winning Scottish band Salsa Celtica, acclaimed duo Clype and Cuban Son ensemble Son al Son. I was also musical director of the recent Old Roots New Shoots project which featured The Old Blind Dogs, Jenny Sturgeon, Iona Fyfe and many others and which performed at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow as part of Celtic Connections. I was nominated for Album of the Year (Clype) and Scots Singer of the Year at the MG Alba Scots Trad Awards in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
