If you are interested in joining the teaching profession, we have a range of courses and options available to get you started on your new career pathway.  All of our Initial Teacher Education routes are accredited by the General Teaching Council of Scotland.

MA Education

Our MA Education programme leads to a qualification to teach primary education and you will gain registration with the General Teaching Council of Scotland.  

This programme is delivered full time on campus over four years and is perfect for people that want to teach but don't yet have a degree.

PGDE

If you already hold a degree and are looking for a route into teaching, PGDE may be right for you.  We offer this programme both full time on campus and via distance learning, in partnership with Local Authorities.

You can study either primary or secondary education and will  gain registration with the General Teaching Council of Scotland.

Educational Studies (STQ)

If you are a Further Education Lecturer or qualified teacher from out with Scotland wishing to gain full registration to teach in secondary or primary schools then this route is for you.

This is a one year postgraduate certificate and you will gain full registration with the General Teaching Council of Scotland.

Online Access

If you want to become a teacher but don't have the relevant English and Maths qualifications you can study online in your own time with the Online Access courses.

Our SCQF Level 6 English course and SCQF Level 5 maths are suitable for entry onto PGDE at University of Aberdeen and other institutions in Scotland.
