MISS HEBA FARAJALLAH

Biography

I am a PhD student at the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition. My research focuses on the maternity care experiences of asylum-seeking and refugee women in Scotland, aiming to fill critical gaps in the existing literature. 

 My inspiration comes from my work as a midwife in Gaza and my personal immigration experience, driving my commitment to this field after completing my MSc degree in Midwifery in Aberdeen.

My goal is to make a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable women by improving maternity care practices and policies. Beyond my PhD, I'll continue advocating for marginalized communities through my clinical practice, academia, collaborations, and policy discussions.

The study focuses on understanding the maternity care experiences of asylum-seeking and refugee women in Scotland. It takes a closer look at what asylum-seeking or refugee women think about maternity services in Scotland and what we need to do to meet their needs. The study will help future attempts to improve their experiences in maternity services in Scotland.
